Awesomeness This Week: Cultists

With all the 6th edition rumors floating around and the rumors about the new Chaos Codex having cultists, it may have been fate that I randomly found a handful of cultist models the other day while searching through box of 40K stuff.  The models are pretty old it seems, probably from early 3rd or late 2nd edition, but I'm not sure.  This got me to thinking that many of us may want to start building our own cultists out of newer bitz.

So I did a little digging and these are some of the examples I've come up with to possibly help guide us on our way, or at least entertain us for a little while.

Not all cultists are dirty ghouls.

These cultists seem pretty cool.  They have a Necromunda feel to them.  They look like they are made from Cadian and Fantasy Elf bitz.  Throw in a couple of stubbers and you've hit the jackpot.  I found these guys over here.

Nice use of bitz, I really like the sniper in the back.

Another facet of the cultist line of modeling I would like to see is the Genestealer Cultists.  I never got to play them, but I still have a few of the old models and I think making some new ones might be pretty awesome.

Hideously beautiful cyborg Genestealer cultists.
These guys from over at Warseer are probably closer to the ghastly cultists we are all accustomed to.

They are as deadly as they are ugly!!

And I will leave you with this idea for a Slaaneshi band of cultists, all female of course.  Looks like some of the miniatures came from the Reaper Chronoscope line.

They are as deadly as they are pretty!!
That will be all for today, so stay tuned for more from Spruehammer!!  Oh yeah and while you are at it join us on Facebook!!

Wreck Age WIP

I've been working on some Wreck Age minis this last few weeks.  I figure its about time to show off some pics of my progress.  This seems to be a great skirmish game, and its pretty fast paced as well.

Here are some pics of the Drifter Chieftain

The Driftrs want you!!
He went that way...
...no wait, he went that way.

Here are some of the boars, two are explosive boars and one is a pack boar.

What a bunch of boars!!

This miniature is from the Chronoscope line, she is a bike chick.  I think she will fit in the Wreck Age universe pretty well regardless.

Its good to be the Chieftain!!
Back off buddy!!

Terrain Progress

I've been working on a little bit of terrain for 40K and Wreck Age.  I just wanted to share some of it with you guys.

Where is the door?

This is the abaondoned church building I'm working on.  Next step will be to board the windows up and work on a roof.

Great cover, but no protection from the rain.

This place needs a power washing!!!!

I've also been working on some Ork barricades.  I've used a brown and patina wash that I created, along with a ruby wash from Secret Weapon.

What
a
pile
of
junk
!!!!!!!!

Games Workshop Flyers up for pre-order, what do you think?

I just saw that Games Workshop has put up images for the new flyers and pre orders.  I gotta say these models look pretty awesome.  However with the new price hike how far are you willing to go?  They are all priced at $45.50 US, which will be cheap compared to the new price of the Storm Raven.

This looks good in white.

Ultra all the way baby!!

Does red really go fasta?
So do you need these in your armies?  Do you just want them for your collection?  Or would it be considered and investment opportunity to get these and hold on to them til after next year's price hike.  What you don't think there will be another price hike, everything is going up in price these days its just a matter of when not if.

Necrons FTW!!

These models do look really good.  And honestly what of Games Workshop doesn't look good?  Okay, so finecast is kinda iffy, but other than that?  I'm just happy that the Necrons have an official Scythe model, however yesterday's conversion pics tell me that I might not have to spend the money just the time.

So what do you think?  Are these models worth the investment?  Can you do without them?  Or are they must haves?  Is the timing for the pre-order right before the price hike a scare tactic?  What is GW really thinking?  Is it a chicken or a duck? (okay, sorry that was residual from too much Minecraft, lol.)

Awesomeness This Week: Necron Scythe Conversions

This week's Awesomeness comes a little late, but better late than never.
The subject of this week will be Necrons, specifically Necron Scythe conversions.  So sit back and enjoy!!

First off is a conversion from Dilandu from BoS, he says he's only been playing for about a year and started with the old crappy Necrons, so props for that.  And now he is customizing some stuff.  Check out the whole post at BellofLostSouls.

Night Scythe WIP

From Australia Rantimus has posted this work of art for the world to see.  I found this at Frontlinegaming.org.  This whole conversion is great, and the paint apps are seemingly simple yet very striking.  I'd definitely say this is a great example of awesomeness.

This is riding in style!!

This next one looks like it came directly out of the Star Gate series.  Again a deviously simple construction.  I found this over at Cool Mini Or Not.

This is definitely right up my alley.

Lastly this creation was found over at DakkaDakka, and made by Gnawer.  This is an example of great use of items you just have collecting dust.

This gives you the feel that it was part of a Necron obelisk.

Army Spotlight: Custom Space Wolves/ Chaos Army

Sometimes an army strikes a cord with you and you have no choice but to share it with others, so they, too, can enjoy its awesomeness.  Daggermouth has spent a great deal of time converting up the above space wolves army to be unique and stunning on the tabletop.  He has intended the above army to be played as Space Wolves, but could just as easily be played as Chaos or Blood Angels he says.  He has spent a lot of time customzing the army and has done quite well in tournaments with the army.

His standard list is as follows:

HQ:
Wolf Lord on thunderwolf w/wolf claw and storm shield
Runepriest / Sorcerer

Daggermouth is attending Graduate School in the fall and is trying to find a new home for his boys, since he will not have the time to dedicate to them that this army deserves, Maybe you can help him out!

Adopt this army via EBay!
